Skill Bridge: how time bartering can make things better for everyone
Would it be possible to create a market where “low” skill workers trade time with “high” skill workers? That is, blue collar workers barter skills like carpentry and landscaping for time with lawyers, educators, therapists, accountants and financial advisors… Members of both groups could then rate the other on the quality of assistance.
The program would allow people outside certain networks to receive the services of the very best. It would also allow the highly skilled to volunteer in a manner where they feel they’re getting something in return. (Those shelves will go up. Someone will have gotten help with their immigration status.)
